More Information

Join me for our 2 hour introduction to sea safety for open water swimmers, this session is full of valuable information whether you are a seasoned open water swimmer or just starting out on your cold water swimming journey. We begin the class with a sea safety talk where we discuss how tides work and affect currents, how rip currents are formed, recognising a rip current and how to escape. We'll also discuss cold water shock, SIPE (swimming induced pulmonary oedema) and after drop. We'll then head into the water for a short swim session and depending on the conditions will put into practise negotiating waves, choosing entry and exit points, how to raise the alarm, recognising rip currents and how to escape them. I recommend wearing a wetsuit especially if you are not used to cold water swimming.
